Concept

Researchers on the evolution of social systems agree that from the beginning, trust, duty, sympathy and love were all rooted in the family. In the past century the role of family has changed dramatically in the industrialized, technocratic world, and some say that this is a crisis for family values. This may be true, but is this a trend to deplore or develop? One of the major systemic problems in the underdeveloped world is the widespread assumption of, and tolerance for, nepotism, at every level of government and society. While we count the blessings provided by strong families and strong family relationships, we should not ignore the evils that too often flow from this prioritizing of family over the community, over the nation, over the world.  Are family values, now, a major enemy of freedom and democracy?Researchers on the evolution of social systems agree that from the beginning, trust, duty, sympathy and love were all rooted in the family.
